NOMINATIONS FOR 2016 AUSTRALIA DAY
Tumbarumba Shire Council is calling for nominations for the 2016
Australia Day Awards.
Residents are encouraged to submit nominations for the following
Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year,
Community Event of the Year, Sporting Awards, Special Achievement
Awards, and Community Group Awards.
The nomination form can be downloaded from Council’s website at
www.tumbashire.nsw.gov.au or collected from Council’s office or the
Khancoban Post Office.
Nominations close at 5.00pm Tuesday December 15, 2015 and will
be considered by the Australia Day Committee at its meeting on
December 17, 2015.

DRAFT PAYMENT OF EXPENSES AND THE
PROVISION OF FACILITIES TO MAYORS AND
Under the Local Government Act 1993 Council is required to annually
review the Payment of Expenses and the provision of facilities to
Mayors and Councillors Policy and to give public notice of Council’s
intention to adopt this policy while allowing at least 28 days for the
making of public submissions under section 253 (1).
Accordingly, Council has placed its draft policy on public exhibition.
The policy sets out those expenses that Councillors can claim
reimbursement for as well as listing facilities that will be provided for
Councillors to assist them with their public duties.
Copies of the policy and associated documents are currently on display
at the Council office, Bridge Street, Tumbarumba and on Council’s
website at www.tumbashire.nsw.gov.au.
Council invites written submissions in relation to the draft policy.
Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager, Tumbarumba
Shire Council, PO Box 61, Tumbarumba NSW 2653 and must be
received by 5pm Friday December 4, 2015.

Following the release of the IPART report on the Fit for the Future of
NSW Councils, our Council is required to lodge a final submission on
the Office of Local Government’s options.
All residents are urged to attend a public meeting to discuss the
options for our community and to make sure the Minister for Local
Government hears our community’s wishes. Councillors will update
on the current issues facing the community under the Fit for the
