The management committee

funds and assistance to obtain a
matching government financial
grant for the works,” said president
The hall was originally built
in the 1950s by the local and
surrounding communities and over
the years the hall committee has
endeavoured to keep the costs to
the community at a minimum.
However, the hall now requires
a major upgrade with the immediate
need for a new roof.
include new electrical wiring
and switchboard, an upgrade of
the toilet facilities, an update of
the stage and sound system, new
seating and reformation of the car

“Having a business plan in
place provides clear direction for
the committee,” said Towong Shire
mayor Cr David Wortmann.
“It will help the committee to
plan for a facility that caters for
the unique needs of the community
and will also convince potential
funding partners that the hall is
a valued asset which will benefit
the Upper Murray region for many
years to come,” he said.
The hall committee has raised
more than $20,000 over the past
two years but now needs to ramp
up its fundraising.
To raise the necessary funds,
the hall committee has organised a
number of events.
In the past the hall has been
the venue for school dances and
community balls so it is fitting that
the first fundraiser will be a ‘Raise
the Roof ’ rock ‘n’ roll dance on
March 5th. This will be a family
event with music by Joe Attana and
On March 26 (Easter Saturday)
the hall committee will provide the
barbecue at the Farmers Market.
Later that day a ‘Monster
Auction’ will be held in the hall.
The committee will also host a
barbecue on March 31 at the hall
for the opening night of the Man
From Snowy River Art Exhibition.
“We are asking the community
to get behind these events as the
hall is a much needed facility for
Corryong and the district,” Mr
