The future of horse sales in Corryong will be

The inaugural Corryong sale in November last year
was hailed as a success with a top price of $6,300
being paid for an eight-year-old grey campdraft
gelding and another two horses fetching more than
“Unfortunately, the going was pretty tough last
Saturday,” said Adrian Rourke from Andrew
Wilson & Co.
“We believe many vendors were looking at the
November prices and not the condition of their
horses,” he said.
“To obtain the best possible price it comes down to
presentation. Horses should be shod and prepared
for sale and not just taken out of the paddock with
the expectation of getting top dollar.”
The top price of the sale was $3,400 for a 16-hand
grey and white gelding. The top priced pony was
$2,000 for a striking dark brown gelding. The
best price in the unridden section was $1,500 for
a quarterhorse bred mare. In the pen section the
best was $320.
“We will be having a meeting at our Echuca horse
sale tomorrow as to the future of our Corryong
venture,” Mr Rourke said.
