A couple who heard about Emily Hewatt’s
battle with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
(CRPS) decided to help her appeal by donating
a steer for sale at Wodonga on Tuesday.
The Border Mail’s Ellen Ebsary takes up the
Corryong’s Carol Halliday remembers having
her hair cut by Emily Hewatt so when she
heard the 23-year-old was wheelchair-bound
and in need of treatment in the US, she wanted
Mrs Halliday and her husband, Brett, donated
an Angus steer for auction through Costello
Rural at the Northern Victoria Livestock
Exchange on Tuesday.
“The neighbours had a calf that was having
trouble feeding, so they asked if we wanted
it - two years later it was still running around
our paddock,” she said.
“We knew about her situation and we just
thought we can donate this steer.
“She was a lovely young girl, I can’t believe
