Foundation Enrolments Now Open
Starting school is a big step for you and your

families, the support you give your child as they
start school is vital because you are your child’s
first and most important educator.

in partnership with Upper Murray Health and
Community Services (UMHCS), is pleased
to deliver a Health Evening in Corryong on
Thursday October 13, 2016 at 7pm at Corryong
Lions Youth Club Hall.
The theme of the evening is:
“Am I Normal?”
Dr Mary-Anne Lancaster from the RFDS
Rural Women’s GP Service and Kate Wheeler,
Corryong Clinical Nurse, will be speaking about
body image and mental health.

The UMHCS Consumer Advisory Committee
(CAG), previously known as the CLG, is
currently recruiting new members from different
backgrounds and perspectives.
We offer training to interested community
members to enable them to act as effective
health consumer advocates.
The group meets a minimum of six times per
year and has a break over Christmas and winter.
Anyone interested in finding out more is
invited to attend:-
• Our next meeting on Thursday October
13, 12pm – 2pm
• A training forum in Benalla on November
29 where we will network with other
health consumers of North East Victoria.
Transport and meals will be provided.
The role of consumers on the Consumer
Advisory Committee is to:
• Present the consumer perspective (how
users of the health services think and feel);
• Contribute consumer experiences;
• Ensure consumer concerns are recognised
• Provide feedback to the Board on issues
• Ensure accountability to consumers; and
• Report committee activities to consumers
Consumers can draw on their own experience of
many things, including:-
• A health condition they are affected by;
• Their experience of using health services;
• Their experience as a carer, family member
or friend of a health service consumer; and
• Their participation within other local
